Italy and the Holocaust
Funded by:
- Colonial Historical Foundation
- The National Italian American Foundation
The keynote speaker for this event was Dr. Maria Lombardo, NIAF Education Director
who discussed NIAF's Scholarship Program and helped to award scholarships to
local recipients. At the request of the Colonial Historical Foundation, Dr.
Lombardo related Italy's role during W.W. II and her father's experience as
an Italian soldier in Africa, Greece, Yugoslavia and Italy as well as the impact
of his past upon her family's life since WWII. The audience intrigued by the
Italian story felt that others should learn about Italian rescue throughout
the United States. A reception followed allowing further interaction of scholarship
recipients with the audience.
