"The Italian Liberation Day"

Students Ryan Hartley and Min Park, received awards for the "Hero of My Life" outstanding essays The history of Italian Liberation Day was presented by Italian Embassy, and Italian Cultural Society officials. As part of Italian language class's history lesson, Dr. Maria Lombardo, NIAF's Education Director related Italy's role during W.W. II. A reception for all the students and presenters followed. Dr. Lombardo on behalf of the National Italian American Foundation awarded two students who had written the best essays as selected by classroom teachers on "The Hero of My Life." The recipients wrote about a grandfather doctor in D.C. and a grandmother who had rescued people in her village in Asia.
